Bright Student Learning Centre was founded in 2012 by Miss Umera who is its current Managing Director. She started with just 2 kids; the idea was to help the children with extra lessons. The kids increased by 7 kids in 2013 and by the end of 2014 she had 12 kids. Miss Umera felt that the community would be better served if there was a school with a curriculum based on ZIMSEC, CAMBRIDGE & CAPS.

In 2015 the number of kids increased from 45 to 130 kids. In 2016 she opened a second branch in Wynberg. Humble beginnings indeed from 2 kids in a shack in 2012 to 450 kids in two premises in 2017; with 23 teaching staff of and 4 non teaching staff. A third branch was opened in 2018 in Belville.

Miss Umera’s vision was inspired by the will to see kids learning their own language and culture. She also wanted to create employment, a vision which led her to find Agape Women Empowerment, an organization founded to equip and empower women; currently the organization has 150 members.
